GETTIN' OVER tells the story of Quinton Jackson and Marcus Washington, two
men on opposite sides of the professional world with little in common but their
lack of respect for woman and a healthy desire to get ahead.
Quinton is an auto detail shop manager by day, low-level street hustler and
player of the ladies
by night...
But Quinton wants more out of life than his little two-bit hustles, pretty girls
and a dead-end job. He has dreams of opening Quality Automotive, his own
high-end auto customizing operation. He has the skills, he has a bangin'
business plan, he even has the spot all picked out... What he doesn't have is
the cash.
Marcus Washington is the handsome, smooth-talking top sales associate at
Gates Realty, a selective private brokerage...
But being a salesman all his life is not what Marcus has in mind. He has top
numbers, he has the contracts, and he has his eyes set on a partnership. But
when Walter Gates, proprietor, refuses to sign Marcus' broker's application and
bring him in as a partner, Marcus sets out to get the endorsements on his own.
Our story follows Quinton and Marcus who, coincidentally, find themselves in
the same church hustling two different women for what they desire. Quinton
has his eyes set on the checkbook of Grace Walker, recent widow and mother
of an adorable five-year-old daughter named Samantha, while Marcus, two
signatures in hand and only needing a third, sets out to scam Jessica Albright,
the beautiful but lonely single partner of a rival brokerage...
But abusing the love of these decent, honest women proves harder to stomach
than our boys
had in mind...
Written in contemporary tones and loaded with crisp, witty dialogue, GETTIN'
OVER examines the moral compass that flutters occasionally inside all of us.
Often funny and occasionally heartbreaking, it is a story about truth and
desire, integrity and decency... But mostly it is a story about the powers of
love and forgiveness.
Set in Anywhere Town, USA, this is a story with broad commercial appeal that
could be delivered with excellent production value on a modest budget. Full of
rich and complex characters, each with a distinct voice, GETTIN' OVER is a
script that should easily garner an A-list cast.
